Within only 2 months of operation, the Highway Ghost Squad has issued more than 400 citations to motorists using the N2 dedicated bus lane illegally. The city of Cape Town has decided to put an end to the use by installing new poles that will be put in place a 6AM and removed at 9AM during bus lane operation days. To additionally combat the illegal use, the city has also updated their camera systems that can identify illegal drivers and also identify speed over a distance.
